Lakefly Writers Conference and Honor In the Air

On May 5 and 6, 2023, I was a presenter at last weekend’s Lakefly Writer’s Conference. Lakefly, which takes place in Oshkosh, is a major Midwest writer’s gathering. I was there because my anthology of Wisconsin stories, Red Road Redemption was recently published.

In acknowledgement of the tremendous effort that goes into writing and editing a documentary

of this magnitude, the table I was allowed as a featured writer was devoted half to Red Road

Redemption and half to Honor in the Air. The materials I displayed garnered a lot of interest and

the handouts about Captain Scott Alwin went quickly. Next time I’ll know to take more of them.

This year one of the featured author/speakers at the two day convention was Wisconsin’s own

Michael Perry. Michael mentioned to a group how much he admired my sister and fellow HITA team member, Penny Kleinhans Alwin. He called her a dedicated and charismatic advocate for the

project. I certainly agree. I think all of the team members are committed to seeing this important

project successfully completed.

This summer, be on the lookout for our speaking engagements at the EAA and at your local

Veteran’s Posts. If your post hasn’t had one of our highly praised presentations (they're

absolutely free) call any of the Posts who’ve had us speak for a glowing recommendation

about this fascinating story of a true Wisconsin hero, then give me a call to set up a date and time

that fits your schedule. We would love to share the story with you.

And Happy Spring!.
